This leak comes courtesy of YouTube channel TheGamingRevolution, which has accurately leaked Call of Duty news in the past. According to TheGamingRevolution, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s Spec Ops mode will take place in an open world of some kind, with players able to explore and accept missions with their co-op partner at their leisure. The open world will have over 80 missions for co-op partners to play through, as well as some familiar faces, like Captain Price.
Apparently the Spec Ops open world will actually feature some elements of a battle royale game as well, with players dropping onto the map from a gunship and collecting equipment by searching through the map. Players can earn money by participating in the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Spec Ops missions, which will carry over to other game modes.
If TheGamingRevolution is to be believed, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s Spec Ops mode will feature about 20 playable characters for players to choose from, who will be the same Operators featured in the standard multiplayer. There will be a choice between American or Russian soldiers.
Finally, TheGamingRevolution suggested that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s Spec Ops mode may actually be free-to-play and won’t require players to own the full game. Alternatively, the rumored Call of Duty: Modern Warfare battle royale mode may be free-to-play instead, and in fact, it may share a map with Spec Ops.
Now the question is, should any of this be believed? Even though TheGamingRevolution has a proven track record when it comes to leaking Call of Duty news, we still advise fans to take this information with a massive grain of salt, like with any rumor. Luckily, with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare coming out at the end of October, we should find out sooner rather than later if there’s any truth to TheGamingRevolution’s leaks.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare launches on October 25 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
