Fans know that Season 9 is coming, as there isn’t much time left in Season 8, but Call of Duty Mobile has stayed quiet regarding what the theme of that season will be. The most recent season focused on apocalyptic subjects, but nothing about the next one has been said.

If the rumors are true, season 9 will be called Conquest, and will feature World War 2 characters, maps, and items. This includes the potential introduction of the Kar98K in Call of Duty mobile, but fans should remember that these are all just rumors.

The leak uses the introduction of the Shipment map as its main evidence for season 9 focusing on World War 2, and while this would hold up, this could be a case of a fake leaker reverse engineering a believable story. Nevertheless, if this leak does turn out to be legit, then fans have a lot to be excited about in terms of potential content. The season is said to be bringing four new characters, those being Lev Kravchenko, Viktor Reznov, Edward Richtofen, and Nikto in addition to other new items and stages.

Of course, Activision has made no official announcement on this, so it would be best for fans not to get their hopes up too much lest they wind up disappointed. Season 8 is quickly coming to a close though, so unless Activision plans on keeping the theme of the next season a surprise until launch date, fans can expect to hear something soon. Perhaps one of the best places to find this news as soon as it arrives is on Activision’s weekly Call of Duty briefing, the next installment of which should be coming up soon.

There is a general fondness for World War 2 era game settings, so more likely than not fans would be satisfied if this did end up being the case. With that said, there is still a ton of unexplored territory which Call of Duty Mobile could venture into, so it is best to keep an open mind and wait for the actual news.

Call of Duty Mobile is available now on mobile.
