Sony has announced that it will be revealing a slew of PS5 games on Thursday, June 4 at 1:00pm PT in a special presentation that will focus on games that will be available for PS5 at launch or within the launch window. Tom Henderson, a frequent Call of Duty series leaker, has suggested that the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War reveal could be taking place at the event.

This would make sense for a couple of reasons. For one, the reveal of Call of Duty 2020 would drum up significant attention for the PS5 game showcase, even more than it is already getting, as the Call of Duty games are pretty consistently the top-selling games each year. And secondly, Sony already has a partnership with Activision when it comes to Call of Duty, with the PS4 enjoying timed-exclusivity for Call of Duty content.

Assuming the partnership between Activision and Sony will continue into the next-generation, it makes sense that the PS5 game reveal event on June 4 would be used to properly announce Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. This partnership has proved controversial, though, so there will no doubt be some fans on PC and Xbox upset to see it continue on PlayStation 5.

Regardless of when Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is announced, it will be interesting to see if any of the rumors about the game turn out to be true. For the uninitiated, Black Ops Cold War is said to be a reboot of Treyarch’s Black Ops sub-series, and it will include some fan favorite multiplayer maps from the original Black Ops game as a result, like Firing Range and Nuketown.

Even if Black Ops Cold War isn’t announced at the PS5 game reveal event on June 4, an announcement is still likely to happen within the next month, so fans shouldn’t have to wait too much longer to find out if the leaked Black Ops Cold War multiplayer maps are accurate or not.
