A prominent Call of Duty leaker, RalphsValve, shared some information about the next Call of Duty on Twitter recently. To start, RalphsValve tweeted a countdown that seemingly pointed to a Call of Duty event. The countdown was accompanied by the date April 30.

RalphsValve would later follow up to the initial post because some people were confused over what it meant. Many leapt to the conclusion that the new Call of Duty game would be fully revealed on April 30 due to RalphsValve’s countdown. That’s not the case, however. In a second tweet, RalphsValve said that the “Reveal” is actually set for Mary, though they don’t provide a specific date for the full reveal. While they don’t clarify what the countdown is for specifically, it’s likely for a teaser or traditional Call of Duty announcement of an announcement.
Obviously, since the Call of Duty 2022 reveal news is coming from a single source that hasn’t been corroborated, it should be considered a rumor until proven otherwise. There’s also the fact that it’s still very early for a Call of Duty announcement and reveal. Call of Duty: Vanguard wasn’t revealed until August 2021, after all. The early reveal could be a result of frustrations with the current state of Call of Duty, however.
Leaks have already all but confirmed the name of this year’s Call of Duty project. It’s said to be the sequel to the recently well-received Call of Duty: Modern Warfare reboot, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. It’ll be developed by Infinity Ward and will be released this holiday season, as is traditional for the series’ annual schedule. Perhaps it will launch a bit earlier than expected, though.
The reception to Call of Duty 2022 and its accompanying relaunch of Call of Duty: Warzone could dramatically alter the direction of the series. Perhaps that’s why Activision will be revealing the new game early, so it can make adjustments prior to launch. Needless to say, it’s an interesting time to be a Call of Duty fan.
Call of Duty 2022 is in development.
