Now, it’s worth mentioning that Banjo-Kazooie is owned by Microsoft, and the likelihood of a brand new, full-fledged Banjo-Kazooie game coming to the Switch seems highly unlikely. Even though Microsoft was willing to lend Banjo and Kazooie to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, it seems like the company would want to keep a brand new Banjo-Kazooie game to itself.
Then again, Nintendo has an established history of funding projects owned by other companies to get them on its platforms. Perhaps the most notable example is Bayonetta. Yes, Sega owns the rights to the Bayonetta IP, but Nintendo funded development of Bayonetta 2 and 3, making the games Wii U and Switch exclusives in the process.
It’s certainly possible Nintendo has struck a similar deal with Microsoft, though unlikely. Sega is not competing with Nintendo directly in the console market like Microsoft is, and even though the two companies have been buddy-buddy as of late, such a crossover would be virtually unheard of in the industry.
While fans shouldn’t hold their breath for a new Banjo-Kazooie game on Switch, it will be interesting to see what exactly this listing is for whenever the product is announced.
Banjo-Kazooie is out now for Nintendo 64 and Xbox 360.
