The information comes from Liam Robertson, a video game historian who has a history of putting out accurate information in regards to upcoming games. Robertson’s sources indicated an official Baldur’s Gate 3 reveal is set to happen on Thursday morning, which lines up perfectly with the Google Stadia reveal stream. According to Robertson, Baldur’s Gate may even wind up opening the show. Needless to say, a new entry in the Baldur’s Gate series would be an excellent addition to Stadia’s line up, which many interested gamers still have questions about.

Of course, Baldur’s Gate 3 is still just a rumor, though most evidence does point to the project being real, especially considering that Baldurs Gate 1 and 2 are headed to consoles, which some fans see as the Wizards of The West Coast trying to drum up excitement for a new entry in the franchise. It also makes sense that a new entry would be in the making considering the recent success of the Divinity: Original Sin and Pillars of Eternity franchises, which are very similar types of RPGs.

All of this information should be taken with a grain of salt, as with all other rumors, but it will likely be difficult for fans of Dungeons and Dragons, and even RPG fans in general, to contain their excitement given the apparent legitimacy of the current rumors. There’s a ton of interesting lore in the D&D mythos, though there have been relatively few games based on the franchise, at least given how long it’s been around.

It’ll also be interesting to finally get a real look at Stadia, Google’s game streaming platform that may wind up turning the industry upside down, depending on its execution. Baldur’s Gate fans will have to wait until Thursday to be sure, but at least they have a ton of E3 announcements to look forward to if these rumors wind up being false.
