The source is Games Rader’s very own Jeff Grubb, who has been leaking event dates throughout the summer. In fact, he very similarly leaked a window for the June PS5 event, before it was unfortunately delayed. This new leak is exactly the same. Grubb didn’t provide a specific date for the August PS5 State of Play on his calendar. He did, however, place the State of Play between two other events.

On August 5, Grubb’s calendar has a listing down for “Rewatch GalaXy Quest” and on August 11, Grubb has an event named the Frontier Showcase. The listing for Sony’s next State of Play is placed between those two dates. The insinuation being that the State of Play will take place between August 6 and August 10.
This window would line up very well with previous rumors. One supposed insider claimed that the next PS5 State of Play would take place on August 6, for instance. August 6 is also a Thursday, the weekday Sony held the last PS5 State of Play on as well as the date of State of Play that was delayed.
Some might presume that such a near date for the State of Play is crazy, but Sony announced its previous even just days before the date of the event, too. In fact, it announced it the Friday before the event, which could mean that an announcement should be coming very soon, if true.
Rumors about what Sony will show during its August State of Play have also been spread recently. Specifically, there’s been a lot of talk about several third-party partnerships that Sony will reveal during its presentation. The biggest announcement being the long-rumored Silent Hill game being developed in-house by Sony’s Gravity Rush team. Needless to say, it’s no wonder PlayStation fans are so excited for the next State of Play event.
The PS5 releases holiday 2020.
