While Apex Legends has seen plenty of updates throughout its competitive lifespan, one thing that has remained constant is how players spawn into each match. Much like in other battle royales, players spawn into Apex Legends without a gun and are tasked with quickly finding weapons and armor. While other game modes like Locked and Loaded have experimented with starting players with a Mozambique, the game’s main battle royale mode has remained the same for nearly four years. Respawn may be looking to change that, however, according to a certain pro.

During a recent stream, TSM’s ImperialHal made an offhand mention to the spawn change coming in Season 16. ImperialHal made reference to the idea that the next season would see players spawning into the map equipped with a P2020 pistol, asking if fans were ready for that. The TSM pro player is one of the top streamers on Twitch and has won multiple events with TSM since his 2019 debut. Respawn has yet to make any official announcements about spawn changes in Season 16.
While no official confirmation has been given for the spawn change, Season 16 has already been rumored to feature numerous updates to the battle royale. A recent leak suggests that Apex Legends is working on an overhaul to the class system for next season, introducing new classes and changing pre-existing ones. Leaks have also suggested a new weapon will be added to Apex Legends for Season 16 with the long-rumored Nemesis rifle. Season 16 is speculated to launch in late February following the conclusion of the current season.
With rumors and leaks beginning to surface for Season 16, the current Apex season has already featured new exclusive cosmetics and game modes for players to try out. The recent Wintertide Collection Event saw the return of the Winter Express LTM with three teams battling it out to capture the titular train. The event also introduced new legendary skins for a variety of characters including Bangalore and Bloodhound, as well as a new Prestige skin for Wraith. Apex Legends’ Season 16 looks to potentially have plenty of changes on the horizon for the battle royale.
Apex Legends is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
