With the win, the Royals have been shifted to the -175 favorite to win the series after Baltimore opened at -140 before the series. The Royals’ 1-0 lead has also elevated them to World Series favorites at 2-to-1 (at least temporarily until we see what happens tonight in the NLCS).

This afternoon Baltimore turns to Bud Norris, who wasn’t announced as the starter by manager Buck Showalter until the end of Game 1. Norris is a -125 favorite over Yordano Ventura with the total set at 7 runs.

Saturday, October 11, 2014 - 4:07 pm (ET) - TV: TBS Royals lead series 1-0Series Price: Royals -175, opened Orioles -140 (South Point)Season Series: Royals won 4-3World Series odds: Royals 2/1, Cardinals 5/2, Orioles 3/1, Giants 3/1 (Westgate)

Game 2 Linemakers lean: We’re going to side with Baltimore to get the win today in a low-scoring game. The Orioles went 20-9 behind Norris this season which made him the second most profitable pitcher (+12.9 units) in baseball. The Royals won each of the last two times they faced Norris over the past two seasons, but Norris only allowed one run over 13.1 innings of work. The Orioles have won his last seven starts and he was at his best in the ALDS when he shut out Detroit for 6.1 innings in a 2-1 win. Ventura was sensational in both his starts against the Orioles this season, a 5-0 win at Baltimore in April and a 2-1 loss at home in May.

This has the look of a nice pitcher’s battle, so our top play today will be UNDER 7 runs and we’ll also stay the course and side with Baltimore.

Prediction: Orioles 3-2

2014 Royals-Orioles trends * Kansas City was 50-34 (+18 units) on the road. * Kansas City was 10-16 (-9.4 units) when playing on Saturday. * Kansas City was 68-52 (+6.3 units) vs. right-handed starters. * Kansas City was 48-35 (+12.2) vs. winning teams. * Baltimore was 77-48 (+33.4 units) vs. right-handed starters. * Baltimore was 12-15 (-3.6 units) when playing on Saturday. * Baltimore was 43-24 (+21.8 units) following a loss. * Baltimore was 48-28 (+26.4 units) vs. winning teams.

Home/Away streaks: The Royals have gone 24-9 in their last 33 road games while the Orioles have gone 37-16 in their last 53 home games.

Linemakers series lean: It’s becoming an increasingly bad investment to go against the Royals, and after being on the wrong side of several of their extra-inning wins, it gets to the point where you start to think that maybe this is the team of destiny. Maybe this is the team that caught lightning in a bottle and has enough rah-rah in them and enough youth to not know that what they’re doing isn’t supposed to happen in the playoffs. They’re oblivious to the situation and have to be admired, although we can’t say we haven’t seen it before. We saw the Royals have a 10-game win streak before the All-Star break and an eight-game run in August.

Still, we think there is value on the Orioles getting +155 now to win the series.
