In a recent video posted to her Instagram account, Ronda Rousey dressed up as Sonya Blade from the Mortal Kombat series. Specifically, she dressed up as the Mortal Kombat 11 iteration for the Instagram video, as she showed off a brief part of the fighter’s moveset.

Although first dressed up in a hat with a gray shirt and shorts, which are both contrary to Sonya Blade’s image, Rousey then throws the hat at the camera. The video then cuts to Rousey dressed up as her Mortal Kombat 11 character. She blasts pink projectiles using video effects and then pretends to punch the camera.

The video is very light-hearted and shows a side of Rousey that she’s been more willing to show in recent years. However, even though she is dressed up as the character she voiced, her voice acting of Sonya Blade had been a point of criticism upon Mortal Kombat 11’s initial release. Not only was the voice acting performance deemed a poor one but people had also been upset at the casting for past perceived transphobic comments she had made regarding a transgender MMA fighter.

Despite Rousey’s criticized performance as Sonya Blade in Mortal Kombat 11, it is still widely considered a very good entry in the series. The game is the standard iteration now used for Mortal Kombat tournaments and may well be a high point for the series, whose past few installments have been well-received.

With all of this said, Mortal Kombat 11’s roster may not be entirely filled out yet. A variety of rumors suggest that there are numerous additional fighters to come, among which may be RoboCop. This would be the second 80s pop culture icon to make it into the game, given that The Terminator’s T-800 is available to play as in the game. However, The Evil Dead’s Ash Williams may not be coming to the game after a long series of rumor to the likely dismay of many.

Mortal Kombat 11 is currently available on Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch, PC, and Stadia.
